Shubham Gaikwad | Architect | Co Founder
Shubham Gaikwad is an architect with over six years of experience at a Delhi-based global firm, where he has worked on a diverse spectrum of projects ranging from compact private residences and ultra-luxury homes to university-scale developments.
His professional journey has also included significant urban planning work in some of Mumbai’s most densely populated areas, including the urban development plans for Andheri and Ghatkopar. These experiences have equipped him with a deep understanding of design across multiple scales—from the intimacy of a home to the complexity of an urban landscape.
During his academic years, Shubham was part of the team at When Is Space in Jaipur, where he gained exposure to research-driven and exploratory approaches to design. In 2018, he also mentored students at School of Environment and Architecture training them in BIM methodologies and digital design workflows.
Driven by a belief that architecture is ultimately about people, Shubham founded Design Commune—a practice dedicated to creating spaces that are deeply personal, environmentally responsive, and rooted in human experience. He believes that meaningful architecture begins with meaningful conversations, and that understanding a client's aspirations, lifestyle, and personality is essential to creating spaces that truly belong to them.
His work seeks to strengthen the relationship between people and nature, creating environments that encourage interaction, foster well-being, and age gracefully with time. For Shubham, architecture is not merely the design of buildings; it is the craft of shaping experiences, stories, and connections that enrich everyday life.
